BROKEN MANNEQUIN
This body of work comes from my own search to understand what was going on in my mind. Instead of waiting for someone else to define it for me, I spent some time researching psychology and mental health on my own. Through that process, I became interested in the idea that mental illness exists on a spectrum and that most people experience aspects of different conditions in various ways throughout their lives.
The works are created from combinations of single figure stencils. Some pieces contain only a few figures, while others layer many together with different textures and densities. Each of the 300 stencils have individual names, colours, and descriptions.

When combined, they form representations of specific mental health conditions. A single stencil represents an individual person. Multiple stencils combined represents a condition. All 300 stencils together represents humanity as a whole. This concept is based on the theory that we are nothing but a frequency living in a hologram and we are physically one single being.
The project has developed over many years. It began as portrait and figure illustrations before evolving into hand-cut stencils sprayed onto black surfaces with white paint.
